WebDec 26, 2014 · Dec 26, 2014 #1 I have a 1776 dual port, with Engle 100, full weight flywheel and heavy pulley. It is going into a 71 bug, and I would like to use the stock oil bath air cleaner. The car came with a seized 1600 and the H30/31 carb, the carb appears to be in good shape. Will it work with a motor set up more for torque than rpm's? WebFeb 22, 2003 · The H30/31 designation comes from the fact that it's a direct replacement for both the 30 series (with a 24mm throat) and the 31 series (25.5mm throat) used on the post 71 1300s in Europe etc. They are often delivered with very lean jetting (an emissions thing) so that should be checked before you use it (Ive seen the main jet as small as 112.5). WebJan 25, 2004 · Well, after putting in the 30/31 Brosol , and driving it only about 8 miles, the same problem came right back. Car will not hold a proper idle. Stumbles and dies at a take-off from a stoplight. Can't really play with the clutch/gas pedals to maintain a high enough idle, 'cause it's an auto-stick.
